While cleaning out my closet the other day, I found a lot of clothes that I don’t use anymore. I have about three pairs of jeans that are way past their time and some cute shirts that no longer fit. I did not want to just throw them out, definitely. So what did I do? I made a DIY denim fabric basket.

Instead of chucking those old jeans away, you should give this project a try. It’ll give your old pair of jeans a new lease on life.
Use your pre-loved jeans and shirts to make this denim fabric basket. It is a great way to organize your stuff and neatly store craft tools, pens, pencils, makeup, and even succulent pots!
You don’t have to be an expert at sewing in order to make one. No sewing machine? No problem! You can also do this by hand. Believe me; this is very easy to make!
You’ll need these materials to make a fabric basket:
Small basket:
- 1 piece 7.5 inches x 8 inches – jeans leg for the outside of the bag
- 2 pieces 8 inches x 8 inches – contrast color for the lining
- 2 pieces 8 inches x 8 inches – interfacing
Medium basket:
- 1 piece 8 inches x 8.5 inches – jeans leg for the outside of the bag
- 2 pieces 8.5 inches x 8 inches – contrast color for the lining
- 2 pieces 8.5 inches x 8 inches – interfacing
Large basket:
- 1 piece 7.5 inches x 9 inches – jeans leg for the outside of the bag
- 2 pieces 8 inches x 9 inches – contrast color for the lining
- 2 pieces 8 inches x 9 inches – interfacing
And these tools:
- sewing machine or thread and needle
